Final pay and termination payouts on UKG Pro

Final pay is the last impression an employer makes. Every leaver line is checked against status, dates, and accruals, then routed to a person.

By Dan Agarwal, founder·Updated

Leaver pay is never auto-approved; it goes to its own review queue.

Payouts compared with accrual balances and termination dates.

Hours dated after termination are held.

Terminations are one of the most error-prone parts of hourly payroll. The employee's last hours, any vacation or PTO payout, late commissions, and deductions all have to land in the right cycle, often under state or provincial deadlines. On UKG Pro, the pieces often come from different files and different people.

PCLnXAI identifies leaver lines in every input, checks them against termination dates and status in UKG Pro, and routes them to their own review queue so they are never approved alongside routine lines without being seen.

Common final pay problems

  • Vacation payout calculated on an accrual that is one period out of date for employees who left a few days before the period ended.
  • Hours worked after the termination date, or a termination entered after hours were exported.
  • Payout codes that one source sends and another drops, so payroll has to split them by hand.
  • Late commissions or bonuses for employees no longer active in the pay group.

Checks for every leaver line

The system compares each leaver's last hours, payout amounts, and dates with UKG Pro's employee record and accrual balances. Payouts that do not match the expected accrual are flagged with the difference. Lines dated after termination are held. Where a known pattern requires a split or a code change, the rule your team uses is applied consistently.

Deadlines

Final pay timing rules vary by state and province. The system can flag leavers whose payment would fall outside the deadline your policy sets, so your team can decide on an off-cycle payment in time. Rules are configured from your policy; they are not legal advice.

How PCLnXAI handles final pay

Leaver lines go to a dedicated queue with their evidence. They are never auto-approved. Your team decides, and the decision is recorded.
